MISSION

The Montecito Association

is an organization committed to leading the community in the preservation, protection, and enhancement of the
semi-rural residential character of Montecito

 Committee Statements of Purpose:

 Architectural Review:

The Architectural  Review Committee helps to fulfill the Mission of the Association by providing a local professional review of proposed building projects. The

ARC members are familiar with the conditions of the Montecito Community Plan and the Architectural Guidelines. The committee provides guidance to applicants by helping to interpret these regulations.  For the Community at large, the benefit of the local review is that it takes into consideration the principals of good design and, equally important, it brings to bear intimate knowledge of the requirements for neighborhood compatibility.

 Beautification:

To preserve the natural beauty and architectural charm of our community and the protection of the general environment; air, streams, vegetation beaches and wildlife. The committee seeks out and awards exceptional or outstanding gardens, homes, and businesses etc., which have been beautified and add to the overall charm of the community.

 Executive:

To assist the Board in making decisions as necessary. Unless limited by the resolution of appointment, the Executive Committee shall have authority of the Board to act on behalf of the Association between regular meetings of the Board, with certain limitations spelled out in the Association Bylaws, Article VI , Section 10.

 History:

The History Committee collects a variety of material relating to the Montecito area which its volunteers arrange/organize. The committee provides information to residents about their community.

Land Use:

The Land Use Committee provides a public review forum of development projects in the Montecito Planning Area.  The Committee reviews applications for conformity to zoning criteria and consistency with the Montecito Community Plan. The Committee forwards opinion and comment to the Board of Directors to serve as the basis for Board adoption of positions. Board positions are then generally communicated to appropriate County officials.

Membership:

The Association is not funded by any public funds or tax dollars; therefore, the Membership Committee seeks action to retain existing membership and solicits new members annually in order to remain an effective influential organization.

Village Fourth:

To produce the family friendly Fourth of July Parade and The Community Picnic that follows in Manning Park. This committee is open to Montecitans and is one of the best ways to know your neighbors and cultivate a strong sense of community and civic pride.

Nominating:

To select qualified candidates for election to those positions of the Board held by Directors whose terms of office will expire as of the next annual meeting of members. The committee shall make its report in writing to the President sixty days or more prior to the Election date.
